Toronto lawyer Evan Presvelos Appointed to HCRA Board of Directors
The Home Construction Regulatory Authority (HCRA) is pleased to welcome Evan Presvelos to the Board of Directors.
Evan Presvelos is a civil litigation lawyer who has run his legal practice in Toronto for almost a decade. Focused on real estate and construction disputes, Evan has acted for residential builders, sellers and purchasers, general contractors, and trades. On the real estate side, Evan has litigated failed agreements of purchase and sale involving deposit forfeiture and specific performance claims.
“We’re looking forward to Evan joining the HCRA Board. His perspective, expertise and experience will be a welcome addition to our dedicated team.” noted Board Chair Pat Perkins.
Evan Presvelos has also represented clients in private mediation as well as before the Ontario Land Tribunal and the Human Rights Tribunal.
Appointed by the Ontario government, his term ends in April, 2028.
About the HCRA
The Home Construction Regulatory Authority is responsible for regulating and licensing the people and companies who build and sell new homes in Ontario. The HCRA enforces high professional standards for competence and conduct in the homebuilding industry, giving new home buyers confidence in one of the biggest purchases of their lives. The HCRA also maintains consistency across the sector, curtailing unethical and illegal builders.
The HCRA is governed by a nine-person Board of Directors, consisting of six individuals elected by members of the Board and three members appointed by the Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement. The Board provides strategic leadership to the HCRA, ensuring strong consumer protection and effective oversight of Ontario’s homebuilding sector.
