How to File a Complaint

If you have concerns about the conduct of a licensed builder or seller, you can file a complaint with the Home Construction Regulatory Authority (HCRA). Providing detailed information and supporting documentation will help ensure a thorough review of your concerns.

  • Your Contact Information: Include your name, email address, and/or phone number.
  • Licensee Information: Provide the name of the licensee (individual or company) and any specific person within the company who is the subject of the complaint.
  • Details of the Complaint: Clearly describe the issue, including who was involved, what happened, and when and where it occurred.
  • Supporting Documentation: Attach any relevant documents or evidence such as the Agreement of Purchase and Sale and other contracts. The HCRA may request additional information if needed.

The HCRA is committed to ensuring all its services are accessible in ways that are respectful of people with different abilities by removing barriers where possible. Please contact us at complaints@hcraontario.ca for more information or to ask for support in filing a complaint.

We are committed to treating all individuals with respect and professionalism and ask that you do the same when interacting with our staff. Harassment, abusive language, or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
