It is important for the HCRA to honour the rich histories and vibrant cultures of the Indigenous Peoples of Ontario, acknowledging the lands on which our office and the homes we regulate stand. At the HCRA , we are committed to the inclusion, learning, and respect of the land, the histories they hold, and the Indigenous Peoples who have stewarded them.  In recognition to Indigenous Peoples who have cared for the land, the HCRA is closed on Truth & Reconciliation Day to commit ourselves to dedicated time to reflect, learn, and engage with the histories, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous communities.

Land Acknowledgement

HCRA Ontario acknowledges the Indigenous Peoples of all the lands in which all new homes are built on today. We acknowledge the land in which our office is located on is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We also acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit. At the HCRA, we do this to reaffirm our commitment to inclusion and belonging as well as improving our own understanding of local Indigenous peoples and their cultures.
