Using a Licensed Electrical Contractor
Whether you’re a homeowner tackling a DIY project or a licensed builder with an electrician on staff, all electrical work must comply with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and be performed by a Licensed Electrical Contractor authorized by the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA).
The Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) regulates and promotes electrical safety in Ontario.
The only way to ensure electrical work is safe and legal is to hire a Licensed Electrical Contractor (LEC). LECs have the training, equipment, and expertise to do the job right. A referral from a friend or an ad for a “qualified” electrician doesn’t guarantee safe work. Electrical work is hazardous and, if done improperly, can put you and your loved ones at serious risk.
Always hire an LEC. The ESA has compiled resources to help you, before you start your next DIY or renovation project.
